Where can I find information about chess tournaments and clubs?

Where can I find a chess club where I live?

The English Chess Federation compiles a list of chess clubs on a map which should prove useful; and typing '[place] chess club' into Google usually does quite well!

The usual place to find out about clubs and societies is your local library notice board.

Where do I find information about chess tournaments?

The best place to find information about tournaments in England is The English Chess Federation's calendar of events

For international tournaments, the ECF publishes a separate list but anything rated will have to be registered with FIDE, the World Chess Federation. Have a look at FIDE's official list and their opt-in calendar for all rated events.

Golders Green Rapidplay dates are here.

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
